Advanced conductors are designed to carry more power, operate at higher temperatures, and maintain better clearance performance than conventional conductors. Those characteristics can become especially important when transmission lines are exposed to extreme heat, heavy loading, wildfire conditions, wind, ice, and other sources of grid stress. This webinar will examine how advanced conductor materials and design influence capacity, sag, strength, and performance under extreme weather and stressed grid conditions. Panelists will also discuss how these characteristics can support reliability and resilience during periods of high demand and system contingencies. Attendees will gain a technical understanding of where advanced conductors may strengthen transmission system performance, the conditions that influence their resilience benefits, and the infrastructure limitations that may remain even after a conductor upgrade.
