Core Sector: Load Growth and Customers

Load Growth and Customers

The United States is facing a period of meaningful load growth due to various electrification efforts, an increase in domestic manufacturing, and the growth in data centers. Customer preferences are also evolving along with ever-changing access to distributed technologies. State utility regulators are tasked with the challenge of ensuring utilities meet this increase in electricity demand while balancing  affordability, reliability, and customer needs.

NARUC provides commissions with timely and relevant resources and activities (available through the webpages at left) including reports, technical papers, and trainings aimed at supporting utility regulators as they navigate these challenges. These efforts are coordinated with NARUC's Committee on ElectricityCommittee on Energy Resources and the Environment, and Committee on Consumers and the Public Interest
