Evaluating Long-Duration Energy Storage: Costs, Benefits, and Regulatory Pathways

Thursday, October 15, 2026 | 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET | Register Now

With more than 125 long-duration energy storage (LDES) projects currently operational in the United States, commissions are increasingly grappling with how to approach and evaluate LDES in rate cases and regulatory proceedings. This innovation webinar will explore how LDES can deliver meaningful grid benefits in a cost-effective and affordable way. Featuring perspectives from state utility regulators, developers, utilities, and modeling experts, the discussion will examine real-world case studies, including how projects were initiated; how technology type, duration, and system size were determined; how cost-benefit analyses were used to assess affordability and overall value; what benefits LDES systems are delivering. Attendees will gain a better understanding of use cases in which LDES can be commercially viable, affordable, and beneficial to the grid, as well as the pathways for realizing these benefits effectively.

Moderator: Commissioner Denise Sheehan, New York Department of Public Service
