The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) is launching a 9-month initiative to support a utility regulatory commission cohort to better understand utility interconnection practices and advance solutions that ensure timely and affordable interconnection to utility distribution systems. Participating commissions will learn practical information and help inform templates, frameworks, and model language developed by NARUC and LBNL for jurisdictions to adapt for their specific circumstances.
Cohort members will help select focus topics from a short list which may include:
• Data reporting on interconnection queues, timelines, and costs
• Cost allocation for interconnection-related distribution upgrades
• Adoption of interconnection technical standards
• Effective interconnection study and queue practices
• Effective practices for hosting capacity analysis and maps
