Staff Surge Call on EV Charging Ownership

Monday, May 13, 2024 | 3:00 - 4:00 PM Eastern

Contact Robert Bennett rbennett@naruc.org to join.

NARUC CPI will host a Virtual Staff Surge Call focusing on Electric Vehicle Charging Ownership on May 13th, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET via Zoom. "Surge" calls are peer-sharing forums where commission staff can discuss how different commissions are approaching new issues in electricity regulation and learn from one another. We compile non-attributable summaries after the event.

The May 13th Surge Call will focus on the following abstract.

In 2019, NARUC’s report on Electric Vehicles: Key Trends, Issues, and Considerations for State Regulators showed that whether or not utilities were allowed to own EV chargers was a major question for Public Utility Commissions. Join this May 2024 Commission Staff Surge Call to hear updates from states on decisions to allow (or disallow) utility ownership of EV charging stations. This call will provide a chance to hear what justification led to such decisions and what factors were considered, like ratepayer impacts, state EV goals, market competition, equity, etc.

Please note that the Surge Call is only open to Commission staff, not Commissioners. Please contact Robert Bennett rbennett@naruc.org for the Zoom invite if you are interested.
