GIS Applications for Coordinating Transmission Siting in Highway Rights-of-Way, Thursday, January 22, 3 p.m. ET Developing energy infrastructure in transportation rights-of-way (ROW) can dramatically accelerate permitting and siting of interregional and local transmission and distribution lines and equipment. The Ray, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit based in Georgia, will explain how they use geographic information system (GIS) mapping tools to evaluate the suitability of accommodating buried and overhead transmission in the highway and railroad ROW, and produce optimal path modeling for specific proposals. The Ray works in formal partnerships with 25 State DOTs, as well as turnpikes and railroads.
