Chinese Clean Coal Technology

China is not only home to the world’s largest population, it is also the world’s largest energy consumer. Although all forms of generation have seen growth, coal has long remained the main fuel source. While coal fired generation in the United States has decreased in recent years, China has developed the most and largest capacity of ultra-supercritical generating units in the world. Dr. Peter Chen, President of Forest Power & Energy Holdings, will inform attendees of China’s most efficient and lowest emitting ultra-supercritical generation unit, the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Power Plant No.3, one segment of the 5000MW Shanghai Waigaoqiao Power Station. Through advanced and innovative engineering, this award-winning unit is not only leading the nation’s coal fleet, technology from the generating unit has also been applied to others under development and construction.
