Dates: February 17-21, 2014
Location: Austin, Texas
With support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), NARUC organized this exchange with the Mexican Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) on renewable energy regulation. Four CRE staff from the economic, legal, and renewables departments visited the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) to examine Texas’ electricity and renewable energy regulatory frameworks. Representatives from the Ministry of Energy (SENER) and the Electric Utility (CFE) joined the delegation (under their own funding), to participate in roundtable discussions and meetings at the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT).
The opportunity to interact with counterparts and learn from the U.S. experience in electric power markets produced immediate results, specifically edits and additions to legislation to energy sector reform being drafted by Mexico’s Ministry of Energy.
