With support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), NARUC held a Peer Review to provide targeted assistance to Mexico's Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) on the development of a renewable energy auction mechanism. The activity featured presentations from NARUC experts from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which developed the Californian Renewable Energy Mechanism, a groundbreaking reverse auction mechanisms to promote clean energy investment. The activity reviewed the preliminary design of the Mexican energy auction and the legal and regulatory framework for small-scale renewable energy projects was reviewed. NARUC experts provided an overall assessment of CRE’s technical ability to respond to the various areas of responsibilities defined under laws and regulations.
