The Americas: ACERCA

Formed in 1998, the Coordinating Association of Central American Energy Regulators (ACERCA) seeks to strengthen regulatory capacity in the region through information sharing, training, and benchmarking projects. The organization includes representatives from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama, and has worked to advance energy efficiency, service quality, and wholesale markets.

With the support of USAID, NARUC provided regulatory expertise to ACERCA at both the General Assembly and committee levels. NARUC also collaborated with ACERCA as part of a broader training program within Latin America and the Caribbean to educate regulators on technical and regulatory policy issues.
