Job Shadow on Electric Reliability

Date: August 2015
Location: Lansing, Michigan

With the support of the US Agency for International Development, NARUC implemented a job shadow at the Michigan Public Service Commission on reliability for two staff from the Georgia National Energy and Water Regulatory Commission. The job shadow intended to assist GNERC with the establishment of financial incentives and mandatory reliability and quality standards for its distribution companies in order to improve electricity supply reliability indicators in Georgia.

GNERC staff discussed with Michigan regulators a host of issues related to reliability, including reliability indicators and standards, financial incentives, audit procedures, effective communication with utilities, consumer outreach and education and smart metering.
