During this activity, sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a delegation from NARUC and ERRA implemented a training for the Tariff (Price) Council of Azerbaijan, relevant government ministries, public utilities, consumer groups and independent power experts. The five-day technical workshop provided an introduction to the fundamental principles of economic and energy regulation, approaches to functional and fiscal autonomy for regulatory agencies, the definition of roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in the regulatory process, and sector-specific regulatory approaches.
Representatives noted that the intense information sharing during the activity proved fruitful in several areas.
