Europe and Eurasia: Albania

Study Tour on Technical Regulatory and Energy Policy Issues

Dates: May 2008
Location: Harrisburg, USA

Through support from the United States Agency for International Development, officials from the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission met with representatives from the Albanian Electricity Regulator Authority (ERE) during their study tour on electric retail competition, market monitoring approaches, regional market development, natural gas frameworks, and cross-border trade.

The study tour was timely, given that a law granting ERE natural gas regulatory oversight was under review in the Albanian Parliament and there were several regional proposals considering pipeline connections through Albania.
