West Africa Gas Workshop

Location: Washington, District of Columbia, and Baltimore, Maryland

With support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), four directors from the West Africa Gas Pipeline Association (WAGPA) met with colleagues in the Washington and Baltimore to discuss best practices in pipeline safety, right-of-way monitoring, cathodic protection, tariff methodology, and other issues in gas regulation. WAGPA visited the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Pipeline Hazardous Material and Safety Administration, Maryland Public Service Commission, and others. Representatives of WAGPA also visited with operators, such as Washington Gas, and during the internship portion of their visit went on site inspections of gas pipelines in the area.
