Workshop on Renewable Energy Pricing

Date: July 2010
Location: Amman, Jordan

With support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), NARUC implemented an in-country technical workshop on Renewable Energy Pricing. In light of Jordan’s 2010 Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Law and strong interest in developing renewable energy resources throughout the country, NARUC worked with the Jordan Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to organize a forum to discuss timely challenges bringing together a range of stakeholders affected by the legislation.

As a result of the range of expertise and points of view represented during discussions, the workshop helped illuminate core elements of successful renewable energy policies and regulations.  Some of the conclusions of the workshop included the value of maintaining flexibility in policy-making, maintaining transparency, and collaboration among sector participants. Also, the discussions from this workshop contributed to shaping the message behind NARUC’s publication “Encouraging Renewable Energy Development: A Handbook for International Energy Regulators.”
