Africa/Middle East: East Africa

Third East Africa Regional Partnership Exchange on Harmonization of Financial and Accounting Mechanisms to Support Regional Trade

Date: September 15-17, 2015
Location: Kigali, Rwanda

Supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the third partnership exchange brought together regulators from Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and the Independent Regulatory Board (IRB) of the Eastern Africa Power Pool (EAPP). NARUC experts shared their practical experience and expertise on key elements of regulatory accounting, which underpins regional trade: accounting principles and Uniform Systems of Accounts, regulatory reporting of financial data, and data analysis.

The activity supported the overall goal of NARUC’s East Africa Regional Regulatory Partnership to support Power Africa by enhancing the enabling environment for investment and building the capacity of energy regulators in East Africa for planned cross-border interconnections and new generation.
