Regional Cooperation

NARUC plays a leading in role in driving sustained and results-oriented regional collaboration, which allows countries to expand access to energy for their consumers and foster broader, more robust markets for their power resources. We work to facilitate regional platforms for collaboration and dialogue and support efforts to drive regional alignment on policy priorities and regulatory structures.

  • In the Black Sea region, NARUC worked with Georgia and Turkey to harmonize their rules and allow for a 400 kV transmission line and related substation to be constructed between the two countries.
  • In East Africa, NARUC supported regulatory representatives as they agreed that creating a common approach to financial accounting would help enable cross-border trade and create a stable environment for investment.
  • In the Lower Mekong region, regulators followed through on a NARUC recommendation to engage in an ongoing process to revise regional grid codes in Southeast Asia.
