With the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), NARUC gathered over 30 regulators from 15 countries for a technical workshop to explore policies and support mechanisms to promote renewable energy generation. NARUC experts presented to regulators on how to create renewable energy policies to meet the national, social, economic, and environmental policy goals as well as how to utilize international cooperation to further their country’s renewable interests. Regulators from Namibia and Egypt also discussed case studies on the role of the regulator in promoting renewable energy and challenges and successes along the way.
The workshop was cohosted by the Kenyan Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), the African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR), and the Regional Electricity Regulatory Association of Southern Africa (RERA).
