With the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), NARUC organized a tailored training program for 14 interns from 12 countries. Interns visited first with various U.S. State Commissions and then gathered in Washington, DC, for a two-day workshop. The internships and workshop sought to address issues specific to the experiences in their home countries and enable the interns to share accumulated knowledge with policymakers through a national workshop or other means.
NARUC selected seven interns each from Latin America/Caribbean and Africa, with the following countries represented: Barbados, Cape Verde, Egypt, The Gambia, Guatemala, Guyana, Kenya, Malawi, Mexico, Namibia, Peru, and South Africa.
