WASHINGTON—Commissioner John Rosales, of the Illinois Commerce Commission, was appointed to the Board of Directors for the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners by President John Betkoski III.
Rosales was appointed to the ICC by Governor Bruce Rauner on March 16, 2015, to a four-year term. At NARUC, he is Vice-Chair of the Electricity Committee and previously served as member of the Task Force on Transportation. He is also the President of the board of directors for the Organization of PJM States, Inc. and is Vice-Chair of the Independent State Agencies Committee.
Rosales was a Commissioner for the Cook County Merit Board from 2011 until his appointment to the ICC. Formerly, he was the Chicago Sales Center Manager for The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Chicago and was later promoted to Vice President of Coca-Cola Enterprises. A former director for the Olive-Harvey College South Chicago Learning Center, he managed the satellite campus located on Chicago’s southeast side, and was responsible for the overall operation of the campus, community outreach and enrollment.
Rosales earned his bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University.
“We are very pleased to welcome Commissioner Rosales to the Board of Directors. He is a well-rounded regulator who has consistently provided valuable contributions to our committees and members,” said NARUC President John Betkoski III. “He will be an exceptional addition to our Board.”
“It is an honor to be appointed to serve as a member of the NARUC Board of Directors,” said Commissioner Rosales. “The mission of NARUC is to improve the quality and effectiveness of public utility regulation. It succeeds by bringing regulators from across the country together to discuss and exchange information about topics important to the ever-changing world of public utility regulation. A special thanks to President Jack Betkoski for his leadership on the NARUC Board, and for giving me the opportunity to serve my colleagues”
The NARUC Board of Directors consists of the president, the first vice president, the second vice president, each past president who is an active member and 20 other active members representing state commissions. Rosales’ term expires in October 2020, but he may be reappointed by NARUC’s Executive Committee.
