State Regulators Pleased to See FCC Action Forthcoming on Call Completion

WASHINGTON—The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners issued the following statement after Federal Communications Commission Chair Mignon Clyburn circulated an order on rural-call completion:

“We are pleased Federal Communications Commission Chair Mignon Clyburn has made call completion a priority and pressed for a response to the rulemaking. The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners has consistently encouraged the FCC to take expeditious and strong action to ensure that telecommunications customers in rural areas receive the same level of service as everyone else. We hope the proposal the Chair has circulated will include steps that will move the country in the right direction. Indeed, NARUC will be visiting all the Commissioners to press for such measures and will also continue to strongly advocate for more specific FCC enforcement proceedings against bad actors.”
--NARUC Committee on Telecommunications Chair John Burke of Vermont
