NARUC Summer Meetings Focus on Cyber, Broadband, Climate, Safety Policies

WASHINGTON—Cyber security, broadband adoption, climate policy, pipeline safety, and much more will take center stage during the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners’ Summer Committee Meetings this July in Denver.

The July 21-24 meetings will bring in federal and State policymakers, industry officials, consumer advocates, and many critical stakeholders to the Denver Sheraton Downtown. The agenda, still under development, is available online.

Topics under discussion include: Known and Unknown Knowns: How Do we Measure Cybersecurity?; Are We There Yet? Broadband Adoption and the National Broadband Plan—Now What?; Improving the Integration of Renewable Energy; Addressing Climate Mitigation and Adaption: National Climate Assessment; Electricity and Gas Interdependencies; and much more.

Featured speakers include Federal Communications Commission member Jessica Rosenworcel, National Telecommunications and Information Administration Administrator Larry Strickling, Xcel Energy Chairman, President, and CEO Ben Fowke, and Questar Chairman, President, and CEO Ron Jibson. The NARUC-Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Joint Forum on Reliability and the Environment will meet Wednesday, July 24, and the NARUC-FERC Sunday Morning Collaborative will meet Sunday, July 21.

In addition, NARUC’s various committees will hold panel discussions and discuss policy resolutions that, if passed by the Association Board of Directors on July 24, will become NARUC policy. Draft resolutions will be circulated in advance of the meeting.
