Telecom Committee Chair Applauds Government, Industry Data-Theft Initiative

WASHINGTON—National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners Committee on Telecommunications Chair John Burke of Vermont issued the following statement praising efforts by the federal government and industry to thwart wireless phone and data theft:

“I applaud the Federal Communications Commission and the wireless industry for taking a proactive approach to address this growing problem. As Americans become more reliant on their smart phones, industry and regulators need to step up their combined efforts to protect consumer data. This is a welcomed development and I look forward to seeing this initiative progress.”
