NARUC Applauds Final Passage of Broadband Data Collection Bill
WASHINGTON—The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners issued the following statement after the Senate adopted the Broadband Data Improvement Act (S. 1492), which is now being sent to the President's desk for his signature:
"The Broadband Data Improvement Act is a vital piece of legislation that will improve the data collection and mapping of broadband deployment throughout the country. As an early supporter of this bill, NARUC is particularly pleased with the provisions that both acknowledge the important role States play and provide matching grants that will help States develop and implement data collection efforts. The information gained as a result of this bill will speed broadband-collection programs and help bring the power of the Internet to as many citizens as possible." --NARUC Telecommunications Committee Chairman Ray Baum of Oregon
